Witnesses after elderly lady targeted in Penwortham November 28th, 2014 jmr jmr Latest News Shares Comments Appeal for witnesses after elderly lady targeted by bogus official in Preston OFFICERS are appealing for help to trace witnesses after a vulnerable lady was targeted in her own home yesterday evening in Penwortham The incident happened at around 6pm on Thursday 27th November on Broadfield Drive, Penwortham in Preston. It is believed that two men entered the house claiming to be checking the water pressure saying that work nearby had caused problems with the supply. Whilst she was distracted they have rifled through her possessions and a substantial amount of cash was taken. The men made off with around £5,000 in cash but the 86 year old victim was left very distressed. The two men are both described as white, one aged in their 20s and the other in their 30s. Both were wearing dark clothing and hats. DS Jerry Sturgess of Preston CID said: “This is a despicable crime targeting an elderly and vulnerable lady in her own home.
