With winter on the way people encouraged to check in on loved ones – Warmer homes, better health October 20th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments With winter on the way people encouraged to check in on loved ones – Warmer homes, better health As the clocks go back and the dark nights draw in this month, a warmth scheme is encouraging people in Southport to take time to check in on loved ones who might be concerned about winter. According to npower Health Through Warmth, which helps vulnerable people install or repair heating systems at home, now is the time to ensure that friends, family or neighbours’ homes are prepared for the colder months. Health Through Warmth (HTW) is an RWE npower community initiative set up by npower in 2000 working together with the NHS and National Energy Action (NEA), the national fuel poverty charity. HTW offers help to vulnerable people living in England and Wales who have long term, cold related illnesses and need assistance to fund and install heating and insulation in their homes. To find out more about the scheme and to hear from some of our clients, watch our video clip. Across England and Wales, the scheme works closely with Home Improvement and Care & Repair Agencies through their governing bodies, Foundations and Care & Repair Cymru, as well as with community workers, charities, local authorities and the NHS. Vulnerable people are often the least likely to seek assistance but by linking up with community professionals they can be more easily identified and referred to us, enabling practical help and advice to be provided. In the following areas, Health Through Warmth Co-ordinators are available to take referrals and manage cases and they can be contacted direct using the details found on the contact us page: Merseyside (Halton, Knowsley, Wirral, Liverpool, Sefton), Newcastle (plus North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Gateshead, Northumberland), Leicester and East Riding of Yorkshire.
