What’s On: Grease at Southport Little Theatre

29th October 2015

Grease is the word for Maghull Musical Theatre Company’s latest production at the Little Theatre

Maghull Musical Theatre Company have been hard at work mastering their hand jive and burnin’ up the quarter mile with their electrifyin’ dance moves!

So now it’s time to dust off your leather jackets, pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip to a simpler time as ‘bad boy’ Danny and ‘the girl next door’ Sandy fall in love all over again.

It’s the original High-School musical, featuring all the unforgettable songs from the hit movie including ‘You’re the One That I Want’, ‘Grease Is The Word’, ‘Summer Nights’ ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You’, ‘Sandy’, ‘Greased Lightnin’’ and many more.

Throw your mittens around your kittens and hand-jive the night away with a show that’ll make you want to stand up and shout ‘A-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-A-wop-bam-boom!’

Emily Meadow is playing Sandy in the hit musical. She said: “This is my first production with Maghull Musical Theatre Company and I absolutely love every minute. What a fantastic and friendly company! Grease is one of those musicals that I have always wanted to do and Sandy being one of my most wanted parts! I was so lucky to be given the role and I cannot wait until the week of the show as it’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of it.”

Pete Brennan is performing as Doody. He added: “I’m very proud of Maghull Musical Theatre Company’s production of Grease which is single handedly tackling ageism in the theatre by ignoring the boring cliché of casting teenagers and has instead shattered this paradigm with a rabble of 20 to 30 year olds.

“Even the tried and tested handsome leading man has been ignored this time round in favour of a more average pylon shaped ruffian! Both risks are clearly paying off as this show is shaping up to be the most significant theatrical event since Claude Michel Schonberg read Victor Hugo’s Les Miserable and thought this needs more singing and dancing!”

Greeece runs at Southport’s Little Theatre from November 4-7 at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.

Tickets are £15. For tickets call 01695 632 372 or purchace from the Little Theatre Box Office (01704 530 521) after October 28.
