Week 4 –  Leyland Road Methodist Church

Leyland Road is a lively Methodist church with over one hundred and fifty members falling into a broad age range.

The Church has a diversity of activities and expressions seeking to connect and share God’s grace and love to people around. With contemporary worship to intercessory prayer meetings, badminton groups to luncheon clubs, Alpha to community educational, Parental and toddlers, through children and youth programmes to fellowship groups we create a space for breadth of encounter with God and a church which seeks to value and give spiritual and practical help to all.

The church is part of the Southport Methodist Circuit. A group of eleven churches which, with a breadth of other church traditions, share the mission and ministry of God across Southport.
Our home is a large grade two listed building, built in the 1870’s set in the residential urban area to the north of the town centre. Recently a renovation programmehas created a quality ‘pew-less’ open plan worship area, with audio-visual facilities and suite of meetings rooms which are a great resource for the contemporary worship and variety of activities we share. Our resources are a rich, creative flexible tool we use in ministry and evangelism, regularly hosting youth events, regional conferences, school concerts and even flu jabs.

Having strong links with local schools and churches means that all we share has a connection and value greater than any one church. The local curches Youth forum in a key part of this.

Innovation and progression have been key to many of the things we celebrate, invest in and value. In worship and mission particularly openness to the leading of the holy spirit is valued and encouraged.
We seek to be a place where there is a warm welcome a creative space to sense God and a supportive community, a breadth of worship and a sense of fun can be known. We look to be the bestwe can be for God, knowing we are just people and we seek to serves the needs of the community in word, deed and preayer to sense together God’s heart and love.
