92% of families applying for a Sefton Secondary School have been offered their first choice school.

Letters and emails were sent on national offer day (March 2), informing parents/carers about the offer of a school place for their child for September, 2015.

In total there were 2,882 applications received with 92% receiving their first choice while 98% who applied were given at least one of their three choices.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member Children, Schools, Families and Leisure, said: “We always aim to make the switch from Primary School to Secondary School run as smoothly as possible as it is a big step in a child’s development.

“Yet again our figures are consistently high with 92% of pupils being placed in their first choice of secondary school, a similar figure from last year.

“It is always very pleasing so many pupils have got their first choice of school and they will be attending some fantastic facilities. Thanks must also go to our Admissions Team who have supported so many families during this process.

“Sadly some pupils will have missed out and any applicant who is unhappy about their secondary school allocation has a right to appeal.”

Further allocation details and appeal information can be found online.
