Warning to Southport establishments after attempted wallet theft

Local establishments with toilets and baby changing rooms are being warned to be vigilant after the attempted theft of a wallet at The Boulevard Restaurant in Cambridge Arcade this afternoon (Sunday 23rd February 2014).

An Eastern European woman with a small child aged about 7 holding a teddy bear asked one of the staff members if she could use the upstairs toilets. Thinking nothing of it she was allowed to use them.

A spokesperson for the restaurant said:

The woman was aged in her early twenties with blonde hair, slim build wearing tight jeans and a white top was seen holding a wallet in her hand that belonged to a staff member.

She had obviously sneaked into our staff room and stole the wallet from out of a jacket.

When she was approached by one of our staff she immediately dropped the wallet on the floor grabbed hold of her child and ran out of the back door not to be seen again.

Police have been informed.
