Merseyside Police is apealing for the public’s help in tracing a man wanted in connection with a string of offences committed in Southport town centre.   Officers are keen to speak to 28-year-old Warren Thomas Debnam (photo attached) about a burglary and a theft in Eastbank Street and an assault in London Street.

The incidents happened earlier this year and all efforts to trace Mr Debnam so that he can be questioned about them have been exhausted.

The first incident happened on February 5. The owner of a photography shop in Eastbank Street was transferring equiptment from a temporary studio next door when he saw an unknown male walk out of the premises with a red camera bag.   The owner gave chase and the offender dropped the bag and ran off.

The second incident happened on April 4. An employee at the Kwik Fit garage on Eastbank Street was cashing up when an unknown male approached the counter and stole bags of cash while the employee was distracted. The offender left the scene in a silver car.   The third incident happened outside a pub in London Street on April 9.

Officers were called to reports of a man damaging a street light while sitting on a first floor window ledge. On arrival they detained the man and while doing so, an officer was injured. The suspect was arrested, questioned and given police bail however he has failed to re-attend at Copy Lane police station as required.

Officers in Sefton are keen to hear from anyone who has seen Warren Debnam recently or knows where he is. Call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 3836 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
