Walk the Bay with Galloway’s Southport! January 22nd, 2014 admin Latest News Latest Whats On Shares Comments Walk the Bay with Galloway’s Southport! Galloway’s Society for the Blind are asking for people across Sefton and West Lancashire to join them for their 31st walk across Morecambe Bay, guided by Cedric Robinson MBE. Southport based charity have announced their prestigious event to be taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 21st and 22nd of June and are inviting people to reserve their places before registration opens in February. Emma Russ, Senior Fundraiser commented, “As a charity we strive to support local blind and partially sighted people through their sight loss journey, helping them to regain their independence and minimise the effects of reduced vision. We do this through specialist equipment and advice, talking newspapers, escorted holidays and short trips, outdoor activities and support groups. To do all of this we need to raise over £850,000 every year. Last year, the Morecambe Bay Walk raised over £30,000 for Galloway’s which went a long way to helping us achieve our goals. We hope that this year will be even bigger and better and are announcing the date now so that people can reserve their place on an event that books up quickly.” The 9 mile walk is popular event for people up and down the country, starting from the picturesque promenade of Arnside and finishing at Kents Bank.
