W.L.MG.O.C second mid-month meet

by
6th May 2016

Today the 5th of May saw the second of six of our mid-monthly meets and this time we visited the Hesketh Arms Rufford on the A59 in between Burscough and Tarleton.

With the summer now fast approaching the nights are staying a lot lighter which means a lot more talking in the car park with a drink (usually poking around each other’s cars) seeing what modifications have been done or how original the car is?(compared too when it left the factory).

Picture of the pub circa 1920’s (not a great deal of change in a hundred years or so)

And also a full insight into Ruffords history can be read here. http://www.ruffordvillage.com/history/ridgb/ridgbtxt18.html

The weather for the evening was sunshine and cloud being warm and dry on the hottest day of the year so far seventeen members turned out for tonight’s meet and all in their MG’s!

The lady members however make straight for the pub to have a natter about (knitting, husbands, partners, shopping)? We never do get to find out!!

  In all 12 MG’s turned up and these ranged from 3 Midgets,2 MGF’s,2 TF’s,2 MGB’s,1 MBG-GT,1 MGA Coupe,1 MGTC.

And as the evening light falls and darkness sweeps in we all move into the pub to carry on the conversation in the warmth with friendly banter and also to keep the ladies company!! (Because they say we can).

It is also with great sadness that we have to announce the death of one of our club’s Life members David Bryant 1930-2016. David owned a rare MGA Twin-cam that once was originally owned by the Tunnock family of (caramel wafer fame) our sincere condolences go out to his wife and daughter for their sad loss.Rest in peace David Bryant.

W.L.MG.O.C would like to thank the Hesketh Arms for there hospitality and warm surroundings, also Jerry for the arrangements of the mid-month meet.
