VOLUNTEERS at Southport Offshore Rescue are set to star in a Christmas television advert showcasing their efforts keeping people safe in the resort.

The lifeboat crew, based on the Esplanade, will be part of a Co-operative festive advert as one of four invaluable charities across the country.

A film crew arrived on Saturday morning (October 22) to film the crew demonstrating some of their equipment and talking about the day to day life of a lifeboat volunteer.

A spokesperson for the Offshore Rescue Trust said: “We have been chosen as one of the four charities to feature in this year’s Co-op Christmas TV advertising campaign which showcases their support of local causes.

“The film crew along with the Lifeboat crew completed the filming on Saturday morning using all our equipment to demonstrate some of the lifesaving skills we have to assist the community whenever we are called upon.

“The advert is due to air on TV on December 1, followed by additional footage and interviews on the Co-op website!”
