Update: Statement by Merseyside Police 

Merseyside Police can confirm officers were in attendance at a road traffic collision in Southport on Sunday, 1 March.Patrols were called to Mill Lane, at around 8.50am, following a report of a collision between a Citroen car and a van.

No-one was injured during the incident

Officers from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime Roads Policing Unit attended and a 21-year-old man from Southport was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

He was later released without charge.

An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing.

emergency services were called to Mill Lane, Churchtown, Southport at around 9.30am, Sunday 1 March 2015.

A Citroen car collided with a parked van on the opposite side of the road whist driving towards Church town village.

The driver failed a breath test at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
