Vegetable crisis sees shoppers urged to buy Southport produce

With supermarkets in Southport limiting the amount amount of vegetables you can buy due to weather conditions in Europe, perhaps now is a good to consider shopping more local?

We Grow are a charity supporting people with autism. They grow their fruit and vegetables on their site in Churchtown.

It’s really is a great initiative. As a side they also run Me Cycle (Ainsdale) and A Great Little Place  (2 coffee shops in Southport Town Centre).

At We Grow the environment is at the heart of everything they grow. All there home grown vegetables are grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. They also produce there own compost and harvest rainwater. They have a great selection of vegetable bags that can be delivered directly to your door or you can see the growing or sample some of our range for yourself at our site in Southport.

There is a huge variety of work available from this enterprise that includes planting, harvesting, sorting, weighing and packing. Some of the work is done by adults with autism supported by our qualified growers.

Work is accredited and development of the enterprise has kindly been supported by the Big Lottery local food programme.

Call 01704 212763 to find out more. Veg bags start from £6 and delivery is from just £1.
