Tragic death of Southport man in Liverpool City Centre

The body of a well-known Southport man Nick Sheard was found in Liverpool this morning.

Officers were called at 8.35am on Thursday after a call raising concern about the safety of a person in a side street close to Clayton Square.

A patrol attended and found the body of a man believed to be in his 50s.

The scene has been cordoned off for examination from the junction of Leigh Street with Parker Street to Houghton Lane’s junction with Houghton Street. Enquiries are underway in the area.

A post-mortem will be conducted to establish the man’s cause of death.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said:

“At this time the death is being treated as unexplained.”
