The Ribble Steam Railway 2012 Autumn Gala September 12th, 2012 admin Latest Whats On Shares Comments It’s that time of the year when many steam railways throughout England complete their main seasons running with a celebration of steam. The Ribble Steam Railway on Preston Docklands are holding a Steam Gala on September 15th & 16th featuring the Lancashire & Yorkshire Aspinall 1300 built in 1896 and only recently returned to steam at the railway. Ribble Railway stalwarts ‘John Howe’ (Andrew Barclay 1147/1908) and ‘Walkden’ (Hunslet 3155/1944) will also feature. This will be your only chance to see and ride behind the Lancashire & Yorkshire Aspinall this year! A Special Timetable will run on both days giving chances to ride on several combinations of the locos plus of course those fabulous photographic opportunities that our railway offers. The Prototype Deltic Diesel, which has returned to her hometown, after 50 years since she was built here, will be on display in the main museum building. The railway workshops will be open so you can see behind the scenes of the work underway on locomotives. There are over 40 engines in the collection with many on display within the museum. There is no need to book for this event and our admission prices are not increased from normal at £6 Adults £4 Children (under 3’s free) £4 Concessions £18 Family Ticket (2 + 2) giving Unlimited Train Rides on your day of visit.
