Letter to the editor

I went to Southport Municipal today with a friend, Monday 27 July 2015.

What a disgrace, on arrival we wanted food and drink for breakfast and the cafeteria has been closed down.

The café had shuttered up with notice directing all visitors to the members club for food and drink.

Not a good start but worse to come, I needed to buy to shoes as I had left them at home by mistake. The once overstocked shop that was here on my last visit had gone and so had the Professional Cliff Easter, he left two years ago I was told.

No shoes, no stock, no professional for tuition or advice, no food service and it gets worse.

I went to Sports Direct to buy some shoes and went back to play, we missed our original time by the way, I went to pay my green fee with a debit card and was told it was not possible!

Cash or Cheque payment only…. fuming is an understament, neither of us had cash and we were told that there was a cash machine at the bottom of the road, hang on I will miss another tee time by doing this, sorry came the reply ‘cash only’

Enough was enough, we decided to play the North West National that was on way back to Wigan where we live.

Sefton MBC have ruined the busiest golf course around through in my eyes mismanagement…. No professional, no equipment, no cafeteria! Welcome to England’s golf coast??

Two more golfers have voted with their feet and will not be returning again…. Disappointed!

Regards

Malcolm Frazer
