The Blundell Arms to close and be demolished

The Blundell Arms on Upper Aughton Road will be sold to developers, with owners expecting a quick sale.

The brewery decided to close the pub down on realising the cost of a refurbishment would be upwards of a million pounds.

Seb Laing and Lesley Curtin, who run SB rangers junior football club, have been managing the Blundell Arms since December.

Lesley said: “We will be having a big party before we close, and will announce the details over the next couple of days on OTSNews

Lesley said: “We are gutted by the news but we’d just like to say the brewery have been amazing.

“We are hoping to take over the lease of another pub within the area, under the same brewery. We love working and living here, and our little boy loves being here.

“We will be having a big party on Saturday, to thank everyone for their support over the years. And then we’ll have a DJ and live bands on Sunday.”
