The 23 For ME Challenge – Nigel Henshaw aims to raise money for ME

by
8th May 2015

Nigel Henshaw is running  23km every week for 23 weeks from 12th May onwards to include the following events (and others along the way) Southport Half Marathon July 2015, Bristol Half Marathon Sept 2015, Lyon Half Marathon Oct 2015.

ME or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is an illness that blights the lives of 250,000 people in the UK today.  People may be housebound or confined to bed for many months or years.  There is no known cure.

 Nigiel says “The reason for this is that my wife, Michelle, has suffered from ME (Myalgic Encephalopathy) for 23 years. For me personally, it has been hard to watch her struggle every day with M.E. even the smallest tasks seem like an impossible feat, just taking a shower is enough to deplete her energy for the day, and she feels permanently ill. Also the psychological aspect of not being able to work, or leave the house for weeks on end and the feeling of watching life pass you by, is difficult to cope with.”

He says “I aim to raise at least £2300 in this challenge.  Please do think about donating to this worthy cause in the hope that it will bring us nearer to understanding and helping people with this awful illness.”

Nigel has also been lucky enough to secure a number of generous donations from Liverpool FC, Jamie Carragher’s 23 Foundation and Everton FC.

They have have:
Family ticket for 4 for an Anfield Stadium Tour;
Signed 23 shirt from Jamie Carragher;
Signed photo of Ross Barkley.
