Temporary Police Sergeant charged for engaging in a sexual act with a sex worker

Temporary Police Sergeant David Andrew Gibson, 43, has been charged in relation to an allegation that whilst on duty he engaged in a sexual act with a sex worker.

TPS Gibson is currently suspended from duty.

The allegation has been subject of an investigation conducted by Merseyside Police’s Anti-Corruption Unit and managed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

It follows claims a Sergeant threatened to arrest a woman unless she performed a sex act on him.

The decision to charge was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service.

TPS Gibson will appear before Liverpool City Magistrates’ Court on 18 June 2015.
