Telford United name Liam Watson as manager

Former Southport manager Liam Watson has been unveiled as the new Telford United boss today.

Watson who resigned as the Sandgrounders manager at the end of the season will take charge of Telford for the new campaign in August.

Telford were relegated to Conference North after being relegated last season. Watson has won the league twice with Southport and left Haig Avenue as the most successful manager in the club’s history.

Watson has named former Southport assistant manager Dominic Morley as his number 2 and his first signing is Sean Clancy from the Sandgrounders.

Telford chairman Lee Carter said “We’re delighted to have secured the services of Liam Watson, who has a proven track record of developing clubs at this level into title contenders.

We will be working with Liam and his coaching staff to ensure he has all the tools he needs at his disposal to help us mount a challenge for the Blue Square North in 2013/14.”
