Burscough Gin is coming on 30th March.
Jack&Gin is teaming up with Birkdale Craft Distillery to provide the locals of Buscough with their very own premium gin.
Following the highly successful event that launched Birkdale Gin, 40 lucky drinkers will get the chance to blind taste 5 different blends and vote on them for qualities of BALANCE (do the flavours balance with the level of alcohol, or is one harsher than another?); LENGTH (does the taste linger or disappear straight away?); INTENSITY (Can you easily recognise the strongest flavours?) and COMPLEXITY (Is there more than one defining taste?).
The tasting will be hosted by Keith Conyers-Nolan, Spirit Expert & Wine Rack Manager, the Wine Rack on Weld Parade in Birkdale Village. Damian Bond of the Birkdale Craft Distillery will prepare 5 different blends of gin. Each blend contained the same set of botanicals, but the amounts included will vary between the blends. It builds on the Unique Gin concept which allows the consumer to blend their own bespoke gin.
Rob Baker from Jack & Gin contacted Damian as soon as he saw the articles in the Southport papers and they have been planning this event since then. The event was officially launched at the Jack & Gin festival on 4th March, where several producers, Including Birkdale Craft Distillery showcased their Gins and providing tastings.
Rob said, “We need 40 tasters to help in our selection. 30 should be from Burscough, but we also want 10 from outside the area so they can see this wonderful town with the renovations along the canal”.
The event is free, but tasters will be asked to make a donation to charity, which will be Parkinson’s UK.
The highest scoring blend will become Burscough Gin as chosen by the customers’ of Jack & Gin. Damian will make up the very first bottle on the premises, which will be auctioned for Parkinson’s UK.
Jack & Gin is located in The Wharf in Burscough Village on the side of the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The venue is quirky with a mix of modern yet traditional food and ambience. Its aim is the become a local treat for gin lovers who like tasty food and a great welcome
