Asda Southport Launch ‘Nation Elf Service’

Asda store in Southport will be deploying a team of community elves in time for the festive period tasked with spreading Christmas joy by raising ‘elf-esteem’ with people and communities that deserve some extra special festive cheer.

The special Christmas helpers will be travelling around the country spreading Christmas joy and creating some very special community surprises along the way.

The Asda Foundation is investing thousands of pounds into local communities this Christmas, working with a team of community elves whose mission it is to surprise, delight and bring some fun to communities… #becauseitschristmas.

The Foundation were inundated with requests from stores across the country asking them to help causes in their local communities come together and to give them a reason to celebrate this Christmas. A wide variety of applications were received requesting anything from parties to presents.

The Community Life Champions, dubbed the ‘National Elf Service’ will visit Birkdale United Reformed Church at Grosvenor Road, Birkdale on Tuesday 15th December at 11.30am

This successful application from the Asda Foundation has enabled colleagues at the Southport store to put on a well-deserved treat for this group.

Trustees of the Asda Foundation said “Unfortunately there are people out there who won’t be having a perfect Christmas for one reason or another, so we’re pleased to be able to sprinkle a little festive magic and give something back to our local communities at a time when they will need it the most.”

Dan Stead store manager at Asda Southport commented: “We wanted to give back to a deserving cause within our local community – we can’t reveal what we have planned just yet, but we can’t wait to surprise some very special people.

“It might be making sure that good deed doers get recognition for their hard work, putting a smile on the faces of elderly people who may otherwise feel a little lonely, or even just ‘saving the day’ for a local community group, who has not been able to fund a Christmas party for local deserving children. Why are we doing this? Quite simply, #becauseitschristmas!”
