This May, Sefton’s Public Health Team are raising awareness of the more than 50 facilities across the borough to help you quit Why not join more than 3,000 Sefton people who have quit smoking using local stop smoking services since last year? If you stop today you will not only save your health but a packet of money too, for example if you smoke 20 a day and quit this month you could save nearly £1,000 over the summer. Sefton’s Stop Smoking Service has 27 clinics and 24 supported pharmacies all offering expert advice and help which means you are four times more likely to stay quit if you stop smoking using them. So it’s never been easier to access the help you need to find the right approach to successfully quit. Dr Janet Atherton, Sefton’s Director of Public Health, said:“With the light nights and warmer day’s people choose a healthier lifestyle by eating healthier and increasing their physical activity. If you smoke, quitting is the single most important thing you can do to improve your health. “We are continuing to promote SUPPORT so people who live, work and are educated in the borough know there is confidential, free, stop smoking help and advice available throughout the year.” Station Road Pharmacy in Maghull is one of the 27 pharmacies in Sefton where you can get NHS supported stop smoking advice. Lynne Holland, a Healthcare Assistant at the Station Road Pharmacy, said: “Every day we have people asking about stop smoking aids and because we have been trained we are able to give help and advice to enable them to find the right approach to successfully quit.” It is never too late to stop smoking and as soon as you do your health starts improving.
