The 28-year-old from St Helens was practicing inside Birkdale Labour Club on the 29th December. He played a darts match against Southport Select Darts Team and up and coming young dart players from the town. Stephen withstood the challenge from fellow Englishman Alan Norris going into the interval all level at 3-3 Bunting stretched into a 6-3 lead. Norris clawed the deficit back to 6-4 with a 140 checkout, but “The Bullet” held his nerve in the 11th set. He took the trophy and a cheque for £100,000, Norris walked away with £37,000.
