“Sorry for any inconvenience caused however the event is due to be rescheduled.”

Original Star Wars – The Force Awakens is up next at Southport Outdoor cinema

Super (Storm) Troupers and Kings of the Jungle are all set to light up the borough’s big screen with the announcement of this year’s Outdoor Cinema screenings.

Following a hugely successful opening last summer, Sefton Council is set to bring another three Hollywood blockbusters to King’s Gardens over the next few months.  The line-up boasts something for everyone, from family evenings out to a night for the grown-ups, and is set to be a hugely popular event.

First up, on Wednesday, August 10, a disturbance in the force will see one of the most eagerly anticipated movies of recent years kick off this summer’s Outdoor Cinema season. Starting at 8.30pm, Star Wars – The Force Awakens is perfect for those little Jedi, bigger Jedi and whole Empires.

Two weeks later on Wednesday, August 24, residents and visitors will be thanking ABBA for the music with a sing-a-long screening of the hit movie, Mamma Mia! One sure to be popular with many Dancing Queens and Fernando’s, this world wide stage production turned movie will start at 8.15pm and is set to be an evening full of singing, laughing and all round fun!

A Disney classic will be the final screening of the series and the perfect end to the summer holidays on Saturday, September 2.  Starting at 8pm, families can come together and follow young Mowgli and his friends on their adventures in the Jungle Book. Get set for lots of jungle singing and swinging with those little movers.

The Outdoor Cinema is open to all, with a suggested donation of £2 to the Friends of King’s Gardens which will be used for future events.

Attendees are free to bring the ‘bear necessities’ or full picnics but are asked to take home any rubbish following the event.
