Spar up for review after selling alcohol to teens.

A Southport shop who sold alcohol to two underage teenagers is now under review.

Councillors will meet tomorrow Friday, April 26, to review the Portland Street Spar’s licence after employees failed a test purchase twice in two months.

On December 20 and February 16, police sent two teenagers, aged 15 and 14, into the store.

Neither was asked for identification and both were sold alcohol.

Karen Beesley, the shop’s licence holder, was issued with formal police warnings following both incidents. Fixed penalty notices were also given to both employees who served the teens.
