Southport’s Got Talent Battle of the Girls Historic Heat 4 July 30th, 2012 admin Latest News Shares Comments Southport’s Got Talent Battle of the Girls Historic Heat 4: “Quote The Best Show ever” This heat featured seven of the best talented ladies in theregion who between them put on a show that was worthy of the West End –itreally was that good and that was the verdict of everyone involved All this meant that the Judges were given the most difficultnight in the history of the competition as the standard of those taking partwas so extraordinary that a number of regular watchers made it known to theorganisers that this was easily the best heat in the history of the competition. The’s show’s Neil Newton concurred “We are proud to have puton a specially themed show this evening entirely for female vocalists whichresulted in our best ever performance of this entire competition” The Judging panel includedsinging sensation; Amy Winehouse tribute star Paula Delaney; last year’s SGT Winnerof 2012 James Laughlin and newcomer to our competition Richard Clein, a BBC Journalist and Presenter The show was opened by top entertainer James Loughlin andthe Kaos Crew from Central Dance Studios with a brilliant opening dancesequence, then the battle commenced with slightly nervous Southport resident BernadetteSimm giving a wonderful performance of ‘Don’t Cry for me Argentina’ Also taking part were SGT favourites Chloe Dent and ChloeMcLaughlan, both from Tarleton and finalists from last year competition-amazingly they were not placed despite their incredible ability. Newcomer Hayley Louise Smith also took part andwas amazing too; these three performers all gave outstanding performances whichwould have easily won any other heat. After the interval Paula Delaney then showed why she is sucha brilliant artist and she had the audience absolutely involved in her act singingalongside her and applauding her every verse. Paula will be headlining theMathew Street Festival and owns the Actastic Talent Agency – if you get anopportunity to see her perform-take it. The last contestant of the night was 14 year old Ashleigh Slater,another Central Dance studios pupil who finished the night with some Operasinging the best selling single of all time Bocelli’s signature tune ‘Time to say goodbye’ and this performance finally silenced thepacked venue – there was no doubt whatsoever that this girl is a star in themaking and Ashleigh will return next week to sing again after winning a WildCard place. Such was the standard this night that there was a second Wild Cardawarded to talented Lauren Ormesher from Manchester However, outright winner on the night was 15 year old AlyssaCollins from Burscough who sang and has only been performing for two years.Alyssa sang Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On the The Edge by Lady Gaga The week finished on a high for the SGT organisers whenCompere Neil Newton was voted as one of the town 20 coolest people!
