Running 26.2 miles to raise money for Claire House and the NSPCC!

Taking on what could be the biggest challenge of their lives so far, staff from EEC Home Improvements are competing in the UK’s second largest marathon, the Brighton Marathon, in just under 3 weeks’ time.

After months of gruelling training through the brutal British winter including miles of running in the rain, cold and wind, the team finally feel ready to put their training to the test and face the 26.2 miles ahead of them on race day.

Sunday 6th April, will see the team lining up with just over 10,000 other runners in Preston Park, Brighton ready to face their biggest challenge to date. Forget Tough Mudder and the Xtreme Storm Challenge, running a marathon is taking the EEC Charity team to the next level. For the majority of the EEC team, this will be their first ever marathon and race-day nerves are beginning to set in!

Running a marathon takes both mental and physical preparation and the team have been busy working out their race day strategy including nutrition and hydration. Running in this event will be unlike anything the team has done before and will test the team to the limits. It will take determination, guts and courage to get through the sheer exhaustion and make it around the 26.2 miles (42.19 kilometres) to the finish line.

With the Brighton course being reasonably fast and flat, the team are hoping to achieve some great finishing times including two members of the team aiming for sub 4 hours while others are just hoping to finish!

Most importantly, the team are tirelessly fundraising for the two charities they are running for, the NSPCC and Claire House Children’s Hospice and everything raised will be split between the two charities equally. Claire House visited the EEC office along with Claire Bear to wish the team luck!
