Staff at local Southport Company, EEC Home Improvements are ending 2015 on a high having raised an incredible £18,874 over the past two and a half years for charities across the UK.

EEC have provided staff with some life changing opportunities by taking part in over 22 of the UK’s best and biggest physical events, and with less than 50 staff members EEC have raised an incredible amount of money. With the more daring staff taking part in everything from full marathons and triathlons to dryathlons, and all staff members taking part in monthly fundraising activities and dress down days.

EEC have taken part in just about every type of event including being sponsored to cycle from London to Paris, then Manchester to Liverpool, running two marathons, dashing around Liverpool in Santa costumes, completing the Southport and Liverpool triathlons, crawling through fish guts in the Xtreme Storm Challenge, wading through mud swamps in the No Ego Challenge, getting sweaty cycling in a 6hr sponsored spinathon, earning two Race for Life medals and conquering not one, not two but five Tough Mudder events where the team faced electric shocks, ice water, heights, dark spaces and miles of thick sticky mud! EEC staff will literally give anything a go!

They have dressed up in pink, blue, red, yellow, worn sports wear, football wear, summer attire, come to work in flashing Christmas jumpers, worn wigs, hats, onesies, crazy hair styles and even grown moustaches in their monthly dress down days! From baking cakes to collecting animal shelter donations; they have even gone as far as dressing up as Santa’s live on TV when they attended the live filming of Children in Need.

Christmas jumper dress down dayEEC have supported over 23 UK charities both local and national and raised a whopping £18,874 in just over 2 years. Raising money for everyone from kids to animals, the elderly to war heroes and of course Southport’s local hospice. They have also officially sponsored Baz Todd’s white-collar boxing event – ‘Fisticuffs and Cufflinks’ for the past 3 years pushing their fundraising total well over the £20,000 mark!

Staff have trained, sweated and fundraised tirelessly in order for this to happen and the company aren’t stopping their fundraising anytime soon. 2016 looks set to be another fantastic fundraiser with the company securing 5 places in the number one fundraising event in the world – the Virgin Money London Marathon. With two official own places and 3 charity gold bond places the company are trying to raise a mammoth £4,200 before next April, for the charity ‘Kids’ who provide support and care for disabled children and young people all over the UK.

John Ball CEO of EEC said “EEC are happy to provide the events and as a company we love a physical challenge that pushes staff to the limits. It’s fantastic that we have managed to raise so much. Before we started the charity division in 2013 some staff members had never even stepped foot into a gym, now they’re training 50 miles plus a week for various events, its been a lifestyle change for some and its been great for team moral; we are really proud of what we’ve achieved so far and look forward to raising even more money in 2016
