Southport woman dies after scooter fall in Blackpool

A Southport woman has died after after falling from a scooter in Blackpool on Sunday afternoon (18 September).

The woman, aged 55, was a passenger on a Vespa Piaggio PX 125 scooter being driven by a 51-year-old man also from Southport.

At around 2:25pm the vehicle was travelling north along Queens Promenade towards Cleveleys and as it passed the Norbreck Castle Hotel, the driver and passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.

The woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with head and chest injuries but she sadly passed away yesterday afternoon (19 September).

The male rider also suffered a suspected fractured shoulder.

Sgt 3105 Adam Dawson said: “This appears to be a tragic accident which has resulted in the sad death of a woman.

“If you witnessed anything that could help us with our investigation, please get in touch.”
