Southport Will Have a Strong Voice in Europe

With the European Elections on the horizon (May 2014), candidates hoping to become the next Labour MEP  were in Southport to share their ideas on how they would ensure the north west will be heard in Europe.

Seven candidates from Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire and Cheshire took part in a lively debate held in Birkdale Labour Club.

Merseyside candidates Theresa Griffin and Kevin Doran stressed the importance of raising the specific needs of Southport and Merseyside.  All candidates agreed it is essential to listen to what matters most to residents.

Wajid Khan, candidate and sitting Burnley councillor said: “The hustings in Southport were lively and enjoyable. We were welcomed with immense warmth and hospitality with questions from members which were both thought provoking and pertinent.”
