Rubbish Friends in Marine clean.
Cambridge Ward Councillors Sue McGuire and Pat Keith are calling on their Rubbish Friends to love their lake and support the Big Spring Clean on Saturday, July 6.
They want a repeat of the operation in May when the public turned out in force to back the Lib Dem – organised “under the pier” clean-up which removed more than 50 bags of rubbish in less than two hours.
“Volunteers from McDonalds and the YMCA helped swell the ranks of Rubbish Friends to clean the area under the pier, with everyone pitching in to help, and they’ve pledged their support again to clean the side of the marine lake and tackle the trash blighting our lovely lake,” said Councillor McGuire.
Her colleague Councillor Keith said: “We’re hoping our litter heroes will turn out in force and make it another great Rubbish Friends success and a great social occasion. “We can achieve this if we all play our part and get out there to brush up the butts, bag the bottles and sweep up the sweets wrappers.”
If you would like to become a Rubbish Friend or to become involved with the Big Spring Clean please come along and meet us at the entrance to the West Lancs. Yacht Club/Southport Sailing Club on Saturday July 6 at 10.30 am.
