Julie Hopkins is fundraising in aid of Tourettes Action and Cancer Research.

Hats on 365 is about raising awareness and fundraising for 2 charities – Tourettes Action and Cancer Research.

Julie said:

“I intend to wear a different hat every day for a year and post a picture every day.

“I did not know much about Tourettes until my daughter was diagnosed with Chronic Tic Syndrome. She only takes medication when she needs help controlling the Tics as the side effects are not particularly pleasant.

“I wanted to do something to help raise awareness of this debilitating disorder, so I came up with this mad idea of wearing a different hat every day for a year as my way of acknowledging that anyone with a long term illness or disorder cannot take a break or have a day off, you have to take each day as it comes.

“I also was someone who has benefitted from Cancer Research I just wanted to give something back.  I was diagnosed with melanoma 3 years ago, and following 2 operations involving plastic surgery and several sessions of laser treatments things seem to have settled down and I am now just undergoing regular checkups. I don’t know how the idea of wearing hats came about, but I knew that whatever I did had to be a challenge.

“Posting a picture of myself wearing a different hat every day for a whole year was my way of acknowledging that any illness or disability is constant. You cannot take a break or have a day off, you have to take each day as it comes.

Please show your support for everyone facing this challenge and keep Cancer Research providing hope for everyone.
