Southport Rescue Quad Bikes tasked to assist the Sefton Rangers pull a stuck Land Rover off the beach at Southport June 29th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Southport Rescue Quad Bikes tasked to assist the Sefton Rangers pull a stuck Land Rover off the beach at Southport The vehicle had become stuck Â about 1\2 mile west of Weld Road, Southport and with the tide coming in the Coastguard were concerned for the driver, and his family’s safety. The Southport Lifeboat crew were paged at 14:25 and the quad bikes arrived on scene at 14:40. The Sefton Ranger’s tractor had attempted to pull the Land Rover out of the tide but their strop had snapped due to the vehicle’s rear wheels being stuck. A rope new off the quad bikes was attached to the back of the Land Rover, and with the help of the Ranger’s Tractor, the Lifeboat crew were able to pull the vehicle out of the water just as the water started to enter the cab. The three occupants of the Land Rover were able to drive home safely. Southport Coastguard rescue team and the Southport Lifeboat reserve launch vehicle were also in attendance. Well done to all involved. The Southport Lifeboat is run by the Southport Offshore Rescue Trust. Being independent from the RNLI means that the Trust is responsible for all of its own financing and fundraising, it receives no regular Grant Aid toward the running costs of the lifeboat service.
