Southport Pleasureland reveals its newest attraction – The Casablanca Theatre

Southport Pleasureland are building on the towns summertime dynamic and hope to bring a little extra to the cultural mix with its first theatrical summer.

In association with the Pleasureland Players, Owner of Pleasureland, Norman Wallis, is delighted to announce his newest attraction – The Casablanca Theatre.

The venue will provide top of the range entertainment and the seasons begins this week with Dylan Thomas’ masterpiece ‘Under Milk Wood.’ Further adaptations throughout the summer will be; a concert performance of the hit stage musical ‘Cabaret’ and Mike Leigh’s hysterically funny and poignant ‘Nuts in May.’

As temperatures rise (we hope) so will excitement levels with the arrival of the big top. Over the course of the summer months Pleasureland will host  a variety of gigs; Shakespeare, a Beer Festival and children’s theatre –  including a celebration of the hundredth anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birthday.

This summer season is the brainchild of Norman himself, who is dedicated to providing quality entertainment. The Pleasureland proprietor said ‘Amusement parks are a part of British heritage and culture, from the early strolling minstrels in Shakespeare’s time  to global adventure parks we see nowadays. Either way going to an amusement park has always been about the experience and transcending yourself to another world through the rides, candy floss and most importantly entertainment. So this is what I intend to bring to life at Pleasureland, through different elements of theatre and audience interaction on entering the grounds I want audiences to leave their troubles at the gates as they are instantly engaged into the overall experience.’

This summer join Norman and the rest of his Pleasureland brigade for a season of fun and laughter for all the family.
