Southport man victim of con man

27th October 2015

A con man is working the rounds in the Southport area claiming to be the owner of a well-known Southport taxi firm.

Today the victim who would like to remain anonymous contacted OTSnews and  said:

“A man turned up at my home in Poulton Road at around 8pm, (Saturday Oct 24) and said if gave a donation to queenscourt hospice he will give me £400 back on Sunday.

“The man also said he was the owner of a well-know Southport taxi firm.

I rang the taxi firm up the following morning (Sunday Oct 25) and they informed me that it was a scam.

“I was conned out of £100, I just want to warn people about this!”

“I would describe the man as slim build with grey hair and he drove a grey estate.

That is all the information I have as the incident happened when it was dark so did not get any more details. I will be reporting it to the police on Monday.”

Do you know anyone that has encountered the same man?
