Stephen James Huyton was left needing hospital treatment after falling into an unsecure manhole on Meols Park, Wednesday 17 June 2015.

Stephen said:

“I was walking my dog at around 8.15pm. I entered the park at the entrance nearest to Homebase and let my dog off her lead.  As she ran on I noticed my partner walking with a colleague across the trading estate car park. Then suddenly I fell down an unsecured double manhole, in doing so I badly injured my knee and back.

I managed to get myself out of the Manhole. It was lucky my partner and colleague could help me home”.

Meols Cop high school has now been notified of the danger spot that many students negotiate on a daily basis.

No one from Sefton Council has been available to comment on the situation.
