Southport Lifeboat rescue non swimmer in fishing boat incident Ainsdale August 10th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Southport Lifeboat rescue man off small fishing boat Ainsdale Southport Lifeboat was called to Ainsdale Beach at about 9:30am this morning (Saturday 10th August 2013) after they were alerted to a small fishing boat in difficulties at the waters edge about 1 mile out off Shore Road, Ainsdale. The lifeboat and two quad bikes were on scene within minutes and rescued a non swimmer off a small fishing boat. Two fishermen set off on a trip at 9:00am. They towed the boat to the waters edge with a Ford Transit van, one of the men stayed on the boat while the other took the van back to shore. Whilst on the way back to shore the van got stuck in sand, leaving the non swimmer on the boat. The emergency services were alerted and the man was rescued. The van was eventually towed out of the sand before the tide covered it. The new Police Land Rover was on scene. Well done to all involved!
