Southport Lifeboat rescue man in sea

At 05.20 this morning (Saturday 30th June 2012) Southport Lifeboat crew were paged by Liverpool Coastguard.  The Lifeboat was launched and two Quads were dispatched to search for a middle aged man reported to be up to his chest in water off Southport.  After an urgent but brief search the casualty’s position was located and as the lifeboat reached him he was being overwhelmed by the waves and the incoming tide.  He was recovered into the Lifeboat by the crew who then administered first aid, before he was transferred to waiting paramedics, who then took him to hospital for further treatment.
