Southport Labour Party call for a local solution to help shape our town August 6th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Southport Labour Party call for a local solution to help shape our town Sefton Council’s current consultation on the proposed Local Plan has prompted Southport Labour Party to come up with a way of involving residents in shaping the future look of the town. As Southport Labour Action Team member Lesley Delves explained “the government’s national planning policy calls for local design review arrangements to be put in place. I think the establishment of a local design review panel would be an excellent way to make sure that major new developments are well designed and fit properly into the way our town looks. We think that any new buildings in Southport should look great and a local based panel of design professionals and community groups would help this to happen”. Lesley went on to say that Southport Labour will be giving a full consultation response to the Local Plan with lots of positive ideas. “I would encourage as many Southport people as possible to get involved in Sefton’s consultation process, the Local Plan will influence the character of our town for years to come”.
