Contractors have started to dismantle the remainding Victorian shelters along the Promenade, Southport.

This project is part of the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) through their Parks for People programme.

Five of  nine shelters were dismantled and taken away in March 2013 to be sand blasted and restord to their former glory.

This week the remainding four along the Promenade are being dismantled.

Kings Garden restoration programme is one of the largest current park restoration projects in the UK and is entirely externally funded.

Wigan-based ironwork restorers ‘Lost Art,’ will return the last four shelters to their original splendour during the months ahead.
