Southport is set for a close election between John Pugh and the Conservatives, with UKIP and Labour out of the race.

At the last election, John Pugh’s team of Lib Dem councillors obtained the biggest victory over the Conservatives there has ever been in the town. Labour have never won a Southport council seat on Sefton.

Southport is very different – and so is Southport’s Lib Dem team. Everyone knows elections in Southport are between the local Lib Dems and the Conservative party.
