Southport has Cold Weather Provision. The Centre operates on behalf of the council. It opens at night whenever the weather is predicted to be below zero degrees for 3 nights or more.

It  was opened last night and will probably be open until Thursday.

All Statutory and voluntary services are informed and these flyers have been advertised in prominent places (including the Light For Life Housing Advice Cantre window) since before Christmas.

There is also a banner placed outside the YMCA when the provision is open.

It Reads:

If you are aware of someone who is sleeping on the streets and is in need of somewhere warm and dry to spend the night during periods of extreme cold weather, please refer them to Sefton Cold Weather Centre at the YMCA on Houghton Street, Southport.

They will be offered:

Somewhere safe to spend the night

Refreshments

Housing needs assessment

Support to find accommodation

Referral to Southport Foodbank

Signposting to appropriate agencies

For further details contact 01704 501256

The Centre is operated by Light for Life in partnership with YMCA Southport, Southport Foodbank, Sefton Council Community Fund, support from Southport Area Committee, and voluntary contributions
