Co-operative Funeralcare of 254 Liverpool Road, Birkdale Southport is taking part in the national event, which is now in its 23rd year Linda from Co-operative Funeralcare, said “We hope people will come along and join us in supporting this worthwhile cause As well as enjoying coffee, cake and biscuits a raffle will be held and visitors will have the opportunity to have a tour of our newly refurbished funeral home. A dedication of the funeral home will take place at 12 noon with the service led by Reverend Tim Hall of Liverpool Road Methodist Church. Local MP John Pugh will attend as our guest of honour and will officially unveil the plaque”. Macmillan Cancer Support, which provides medical, emotional, practical and financial support for people affected by cancer, raised a record £15 million through coffee mornings around the UK in 2012. Funding helps the charity in many ways £25 pays for a Macmillan nurse to support a family affected by cancer for one hour and £181 could pay for a Macmillan social worker or family support worker for a day, helping people manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer. Meanwhile £370 could pay for the hire of a room for a year so a self-help and support group could hold regular meetings.
