Southport & Formby DGH NHS Trust statement over closure of ward 9 January 29th, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments Martin Kiernan, deputy director of infection control, said: “We put temporary restrictions on two bays in the frail and elderly short stay ward while we awaited the results of Norovirus testing. Thankfully there were no positives and so restrictions were lifted yesterday. We do this as a precaution to protect patients whilst awaiting results and effective infection control means that whole ward closure is very rare indeed.” Norovirus at this time of year is not unusual and bay closures are routine in the circumstances.
