An electrical engineers in Southport are looking to put the spark into a new generation as part of national apprenticeship week.

EFT Systems Ltd are a local family business who have been going for nearly 50 years and employ 80 people nationwide after starting out in the resort.

They are now hoping to take on and educate a new generation of electrical engineers as part of national apprenticeship week next month.

A spokesperson for EFT said: “This year is the 10th year of the National Apprentice Week which runs from the 6th-10th March and we are having an open week at our head office. Since we started EFT we have offered numerous apprenticeships and continue to do so. Tragically one of our first ever apprentices died back in 2013 and we decided in honour of him to dedicate our brand new “Aindow Training Academy” to him. The official opening of this will be on the Wednesday 8th March by his son, who himself has just finished his apprenticeship with us.”
