Southport EEC Home Improvements Spinathon 2014 January 27th, 2014 admin Latest News Shares Comments Southport EEC Home Improvements Spinathon 2014 Staff from Southport EEC Home Improvements are at it again during 2014 with even more exciting and challenging fundraising events in the pipeline. In the first week back to work in January, EEC had planned, booked and organised a 6 hour sponsored spinathon to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice. Brave EEC staff intend to spin for 84 hours in total, which is the equivalent to 3.5 days of non-stop spinning. So far 21 EEC employees have signed up to the event on Sunday 16th February at Southport Star Gym in Crossens. Julie Sabin, the gym’s spinning instructor has kindly offered to take a break from her busy schedule of teaching 25 spinning classes a week to lead the event and she can’t wait to put EEC through their paces. With the lights turned down, the music pumped up and the disco lights flashing brightly, Julie will push and motivate the group through the 6 hour long session! Spinning is a high-intensity exercise which leaves no-one sweat free! It involves routines that are designed to simulate outdoor cycling including hill climbs, sprints and interval training, and can burn up to 800 calories in just one hour! Being close to Valentine’s Day, the event will be organised around a ‘love’ theme and has been named ‘Spin for Love’. The team are pulling together and doing everything they can to raise as much as possible for Queenscourt Hospice and have set up an online fundraising page: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/EECSpinathon Sponsored by www.initto-winit.com who are providing refreshments through-out the day, the team are also hoping to have goody bags for all participants including sweets, energy-bars and fruit to keep them going. The group hope to raise over £300 for Queenscourt Hospice. The charity means a lot to the team as it has cared for many of the staff’s loved ones in the past and EEC want to do what they can to support them. EEC will visit the hospice when they hand over the sponsorship money in an official cheque presentation. If your inspired by the team, Julie teaches spinning classes Mon-Fri and Sundays at Southport Star Gym Crossens, classes are just £3 a session or £30 a month for unlimited spin classes, and need to be booked in advance by calling her on 07769 253980.
