Southport duo release charity single for Queenscourt Hospice

10th December 2015

A Southport singing duo have released a Christmas single to raise money for Queenscourt Hospice .

School friends Hayley Murray and James Mercer recorded their rendition of The Pogues’ and Kirsty McColl’s Fairytale of New York which is now available to buy from Band Camp.

Hayley said: “James and I lost touch for a few years, but then we both started doing the Aladdin pantomime at the Atkinson and we decided to record something for Christmas for charity together.

“We recorded it in James’ house – he has some recording equipment, and then put it up on Band Camp where people can download it if they want to and any funds we make from it go straight to Queenscourt.”

Professional singer, Hayley, is an avid fundraiser around Southport . Every year she organises a charity Open Mike Night for Cancer Research in memory of her friend Mike Williams.

For the single however, she wanted to do something to help local people at Christmas time.
