Southport College stages Sefton Festival

More than 100 children recently took part in Sefton Festival of Performing Arts held at Southport College.

Four local performing arts schools entered students in classes ranging from verse speaking, prose reading, solo and group acting, musical theatre and popular song.

It is the fourth year that the festival has been held but the first time the children have performed at Southport College. The festival classes were adjudicated by Anita Gilbert, Andrew Keir and Debi Jones.

Said Anita, “Every time I visit Sefton Festival I’m astounded by the exceptional talent on display. The standard just gets better and better. All the teachers and their pupils should be congratulated for their efforts and for displaying such professionalism and entertaining work.”

Schools taking part were So Talented Academy of Music & Performing Arts, Amanda Neale Academy and Catherine Victoria Music all from Southport and Lamont Drama School from Formby and Hightown.

Principal of Lamont Drama School, Diane Lamont, said: “Sefton Festival is all about encouragement and celebration and my pupils love performing there. It was lovely

to see everyone with their “drama” friends enjoying the day and each other’s performances. I would also like to say a big thank you to all the parents for their efforts with the fantastic costumes.”
