Asda stores across the country have been hit by a till and card machine breakdown including the Southport stores today (Sunday, October 30)

All card readers in every store in the country are currently broken down.

Stressed-out customers around the country have posted complaints and pictures of long queues at store ATMs this afternoon.

And shoppers in Manchester say they are facing chaos at the tills as they struggle to pay for their purchases.

Connnie Carmichael added: “#Asda #shaw only taking cash (chip n pin problems). Queue outside for cash machine massive. This is going to be a small shopping spree lol.”

Huge queues have been reported in other parts of the region with reports of trolleys and baskets dumped in the aisles.

The store has been replying to some tweets from customers.

One of the messages says: “We’re so sorry about this! We are aware of the issue and working to get this resolved ASAP.”
