Southport Air Show App August 16th, 2013 admin Latest News Shares Comments Air Show App Visitors planning to attend this year’s Southport Air Show can download a free app giving them instant information about the spectacular event. The app, which can be downloaded via the Apple app store or Google Play, lets customers browse and read about all the planes that are attending and check out the flying times once confirmed by the flying director. Tickets for the event can also be booked and the app allows people to check out the air show attractions, gives live feed of updates and traffic and travel updates at the show. At the event, which takes place on September 14/15, there will be free intranet WIFI where users of the app can access it when their mobile data service is sometimes unavailable due to the volume of people. This year the Southport Air Show has also won a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor. The Certificate of Excellence Winner award identifies hospitality excellence and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor. Cllr Ian Maher, Cabinet Member Regeneration and Tourism, said: “The app just launched is another great way for people to learn more about the Southport Air Show which is fast approaching. “The fact the Show has also received the TripAdvisor award shows just how impressive the event is and I hope as many people as possible head to Southport beach for two days of amazing aircraft and displays in September.” At this year’s show, the Red Arrows will appear on Saturday, September 14, while the iconic Vulcan will take to the skies the following day (Sunday, September 15). Other aircraft appearing over the two days includes the Typhoon, Merlin, Sea King, The Blades, Sabre, Lynx AH7 and many many more. As well as the fantastic air displays there is even more this year taking place on the ground. When people purchase tickets for the Southport Air Show or British Musical Fireworks Championship, they can also opt in to make a donation to a local charity Sefton4Good. This is an initiative run by Sefton CVS to help local causes including community groups, charities, social enterprises, businesses and individuals working together.
